Welcome to my Journey
Hi I'm George and welcome to my blog. I will be guiding you through my apprenticeship journey in accounts as well as using this to help me keep track of my own progress. I have recently started my career in this field with Nunns Accounting Services LTD. I was both anxious and excited to begin this next chapter in my life however after the short amount of time already I can say there was nothing to be nervous about and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
In this brief time period, I have already had a great variety of tasks to complete such as: speaking with suppliers for invoices, processing invoices, setting up Direct Debits, processing bank transactions and much more, through this I have started to build on a variety of skills and have become increasingly more familiar with all the different software and programmes we use.
Aside from accounting I have also had the chance to learn about starting a business and the foundations that need to be in place for a company to progress. I have had lots of support from my manager Wesley Nunns who has been great at walking me through each piece of work and has been very helpful to me if I am ever struggling with anything.
I also had the first of my weekly lessons at college last week which was great to start learning about my first unit 'advanced bookkeeping' on the level 3 AAT course. Overall, my first week has gone really smoothly and I have very much enjoyed it. I look forward to continuing on this path and updating you with my progress.
As I am at the beginning of my career, I would like to set some short and long-term goals to not only give me something to aim for but also something to look back on in a few years' time to see if I really succeeded.
6 Months – I would like to be at a point within the business where I have the knowledge and experience to work more independently and not need as much support.
3 Years – I would like to have completed both my level 3 & 4 AAT courses, hopefully at the highest level.
5 years – I would love to be still working for Nunns Accounting Services LTD and be part of the growth and success throughout the years to come.
